I chose lemon yellow paint for the body and roll cage.
I cleaned the frame and painted it high-gloss black.
The eight shocks being only a year old, I cleaned and reinstalled.
The donor engine was a 460 ci from a '79 Ford F-150 2x4. The engine ran good when it was pulled out, so for now it would remain mostly stock.
I pulled off the heads and cleaned the valves, and installed all new gaskets and seals. I used an oil pan for a Fox chassis Mustang to clear the front differential. I also painted the engine Ford blue and installed Edelbrock chrome valve covers, and Performer RPM intake.
After everything was painted, and the engine was ready, it was time for everything to go back together for the last time.
For inside, I fabricated dash panels from 1/8" aluminum plate. The inside of the tub was treated with Cotel Duraback brush on bedliner that did not coat as was advertised, and even after two gallons have been applied, still does not cover properly. BIG waste of money.
The Wildhorse was finally done for the 2000 race season.
